Hi Everyone..
Im in the middle of a really bad flare at the moment.. My hands especially my thumbs are so painful! Also my knees Im really struggling to get upstairsSad
Drs increased my buprenorphine patch but I keep sleeping and feel sick. Anyway what I came on to say is that Im going into hospital on Friday, I had an operation on my shoulder last summer which was supposed to free up the joint, but it made it worse. Ive been on the urgent waiting list since Jan to have it fixed, now Im worried Im not well enough...
Was told it would be day surgery but then they wrote and said Im to be admitted to ward and to bring nightclothes etc..Not sure why or what they are going to doConfused I dont normally worry about things but I think I feel so low at the moment the whole hospital thing seems overwhelming on top of everything else! My husband thinks I should put it off until Im a bit stronger but having waited 7 months for urgent appt I dont want to miss my chance, also still off work so probably best to get it done now (I think).
Just wanted to ask my friends who understand what they think...
Thanks Love Ceri xx

Hi Ceri,

Sorry to hear you are in so much pain at the moment.
Could you ring your rheumy nurse to see what she/he thinks about you having the op while you feel so low? Or your GP?
If you decide to go ahead I hope it all goes well for you.

Love, Doreen xx

Hmmm that's a difficult one ceri. I do think that Doreen is right and that you should ring someone to ask their advice. Maybe even the consultants secretary?

Hi Ceri

Sorry to hear the latest, you are having a really rough time. As you have waited so long for this appointment it would be such a shame to have to put it off but can understand every ones concerns with going ahead this week. I agree, have an urgent word with your nurse, and I would think she would speak to your consultant ( thats what my one does ). As we all know how unpredictable IT is lets hope the inflammation calms down, I m crossing everything for you ThumpUp

Hi Ceri

I would go for the appointment but do try and get someone to take you and if possible go in with you.

Hi Ceri

I agree with Doreen and Julie. If you can get hold of someone to speak to it will make you more relaxed when you go in hospital. Good luck. You are in my prayers.

Good luck for Friday Ceri. Getting your shoulder fixed will be one less thing to worry about.

Hopefully you will be out on Friday night and you can think about that nice cup of tea/coffee your Husband will have to bring you in bed on Saturday morning.

Take care.

Well Im home and it was a waste of time! Consultant examined my shoulder in operating theatre and said he wouldnt attempt a manipulation as he thought he may fracture my shoulder! Said I shouldnt have been put forward for it, and that I will probably have to have new joint...Put a big injection of steroid in it(which is hurting now) and said go back in a month...Im a bit annoyed that Ive waited 7 months for something I didnt need! Sad

Thanks for all your kind comments and thoughts

Oh that's such a shame about your shoulder Cery, pity they couldn't have made the diagnosis before sending you for the op!

Hope the steroid kicks in soon and gives you some relief.

Doreen xx

Ceri
How annoying and stressful for you to wait all that time and nothing happens.

I hope the steroids kick in soon and give you some relief and that you don't have such a long wait next time.

Hi Ceri

Just found your post tonight, and so sorry to hear what happened at the hospital - what can you say ? very frustrating to say the least !

Hope the pain calms down very soon and the benefit of the steroid injection kicks in for you and you get the much needed relief.

Hope the forthcoming week proves to be a lot better than last week, thinking of you ThumpUp

Oh Ceri-what a waste of everyones time! It's frustrating enough to have an op cancelled at the last minute but yours sounds like a total farce all round. Do hope the injection helps a bit.
